In Newcastle for a different travel experience

The truth is that Newcastle is not one of the UK destinations that immediately come to mind for a trip, but it is an experience worth having once in your life.

The "city of miners", as it is known to everyone, has a hidden charm that deserves to be discovered. In fact, a few years ago it was named the "happiest city in Britain".

Newcastle is located in the county of Tyne and Wear on the north bank of the River Tyne near the coast of the North Sea. It is famous for its shipyards and its student life, but up close you will also discover the charming side of this industrial city, with the Victorian aesthetic buildings and alleys that will take you to another era.

It is worth visiting the medieval Keep castle, which was the summer residence of the King of Northumberland. The wider area has four more castles, two of which are inhabited by lords.

Emperor Hadrian's Wall stretches from the Atlantic coast in the Carlisle area to Wallsend in Newcastle over a distance of 120 kilometres.

The city is home to two universities, Newcastle University and Northumbria University, and is home to Newcastle United football club.

The city center has over 400 beer halls, theaters and a vibrant nightlife.
