THE MORNING CARE YOUR SKIN NEEDS IN SPRING

Start your day with these three skincare moves to keep your skin light and protected.

As the weather warms up, your skin comes out of its… hibernation and changes its habits. It no longer needs heavy products with thick textures that protected it from the cold and low temperatures in winter.

On the contrary, it needs light formulas, more minimalist layering, targeted active ingredients and greater sun protection. It's easy to get your skin into a spring rhythm: it only takes three moves!

Cleansing

In spring, skin hydration levels and oiliness increase, while the epidermal barrier becomes more resistant. So, cleansing does not need to be as deep as in winter, but more gentle and balanced. So replace rich, milky formulas with airy gels and foaming cleansers, which remove dirt and excess oil without "pulling" the skin.

Some skin types need morning cleansing, while others don't. If you have oily, acne-prone skin, use a light cleansing gel morning and night, while when you notice increased oiliness, such as in spring and summer, you may need to cleanse your face up to three times a day. If you don't remove sebum, sweat, and dirt by deeply cleansing your pores, acne breakouts are likely to occur.

If you have dry skin, you may not need to cleanse in the morning, especially if you have properly cleansed your skin the night before. Dry skin doesn't produce enough sebum, so over-cleansing can cause irritation or peeling. In this case, in the morning, wash your face with water only or use a toner or essence.

Boost with antioxidants and vitamin C

Morning care mainly acts as a shield against pollutants and UV radiation. Antioxidants are what will protect your skin from dangerous free radicals and oxidative stress. Specifically, vitamin C, which dermatologists highly recommend (some for the morning, others for the evening), is a powerful antioxidant that also boosts collagen production. In addition, when applied before sunscreen, it enhances sun protection.

If you have oily or sensitive skin, it is preferable to choose niacinamide, which is milder for this skin type, but equally antioxidant. It helps regulate sebum, improves the appearance of pores and supports the epidermal barrier.

The (non-negotiable) sunscreen

You can forget anything when you leave the house, but never sunscreen! Now the sun is starting to burn, so there are no excuses not to wear it. The secret to never skipping it is to choose the texture that suits you. A tinted sunscreen offers protection, coverage and an even tone, replacing foundation. On the other hand, a thin formula is ideal so that your skin doesn't feel a bit heavy and oily.

Of course, the important thing is not only to put on sunscreen, but to use a sufficient amount and renew it throughout the day.
