MAKE A FACE MASK WITH A SKIN LIFTING EFFECT

On the occasion of World Egg Day, we suggest you use its white for firming, shine and a temporary skin-lifting effect.

I love eggs and eat them every day and in every version. Depending on the time I have and whether I'm at home or out for brunch, I enjoy them boiled, fried, Benedict, scrambled, omelette or in a sandwich. However, I have not yet dared to put them raw on my face as a mask, as a good friend around 45 constantly suggests to me, who swears that thanks to this habit her skin is like a cheetah!

DIY skincare enthusiasts believe that egg white in particular offers multiple benefits to the skin, from treating acne to anti-aging, because it contains the protein albumin. In general, eggs are rich in protein, vitamins (A, D, B12), minerals and omega-3 fatty acids: these nutrients contribute to firming, brightening and hydrating the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and pores, and balancing oiliness.

As with many ingredients and foods used in homemade beauty recipes, there is no scientific data to prove all of this. However, there is nothing to lose by trying to see if what some people see when they make an egg mask is true: that their skin looks firmer, smoother and “lifted”. Of course, only temporarily!
Precautions before using an egg mask

Raw eggs are not completely innocent. If you have an allergy, you should avoid making this mask, because when it comes into contact with the skin, the egg can cause redness, irritation, itching or even more serious reactions. To be on the safe side, do a patch test first on a small, hidden area of the skin. If your skin does not react, you can move on to the fun part: preparing the recipe and applying it.

Strictly avoid putting raw egg on your face if you have sensitive and irritated skin, as well as open wounds. Raw eggs may contain salmonella, a bacteria that causes infection. If your skin condition allows for the use of this mask, purchase organic eggs and pasteurize them at home or use ready-made pasteurized egg whites in the recipe.
